SDSM"s Trajchuleski accuses MoI of organizing Ramadani's escape

Skopje, 22 August 2024 (MIA) – SDSM MP Mitko Trajchuleski accused Thursday the Interior Ministry of organizing the escape of former Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA) member, Blerim Ramadani, from the country, calling on the government and the ministry to reveal who made the escape possible.

If the government and the Interior Ministry in the next 24 hours fail to reveal the truth about the entire organization of Ramadani’s escape, SDSM will make public information it received from whistle-blowers, warned Trajchuleski.

“All the information we have suggest that the government and the Interior Ministry exactly know what happened, but they decide to remain silent. We’re asking Toshkovski today, VMRO-DPMNE and VLEN, and we’re giving them the chance to make public the facts before an investigation starts and all those involved in the scandal resign,” Trajchuleski told a news conference.

The opposition lawmaker asks the authorities to say whether it is true that Ramadani on two occasions on August 10 and August 14 had crossed the border with Kosovo without any control after being transported in an official vehicle belonging to a state institution.

Acting on an Interpol arrest warrant issued for Serbia, Blerim Ramadani was arrested on the border with Kosovo on July 17. He was ordered 30-day extradition detention in a Skopje jail. The arrest warrant was issued based on Serbia’s suspicions that Ramadani as former KLA fighter had committed war crimes in the region of Nerodime.

A court on August 1 changed the measure ordering house arrest for Ramadani until August 16 at a Skopje address. He is believed to have left the country on August 14.
