Skopje, 19 July 2025 (MIA) - SDSM vice-president Kaja Shukova announced Saturday her candidacy for Skopje Mayor, promising a new model for the city management - professional, transparent and citizen-oriented.

"Skopje can and must be a city for the people - clean, green, safe, and with regulated transport. A city we will all be proud of, our home not a market of interests," Shukova told a press conference.

Her top priorities are focused on creating a functional, clean and safe city, with a clear focus on solutuons that directly affect citizens.

Shukova announced a big cleanup operation and putting in place efficient waste management enterprises, as well as a concrete plan fo improvement of the air quality, considering her past experience in the field.

Her programme also includes an overhaul of the public transport, end to the urban planning chaos, as well as commitment to maintaining the existing infrastructure.

In addition, Shukova announced reforms for full digitization and uprooting of corruption, efforts to bring back Skopje's cultural and urban spirit, as well as increased safety on the city strreets.
