Skopje, 31 October 2021 (MIA) – SDSM candidate for Skopje mayor Petre Shilegov, who sought re-election in Sunday’s local election runoff, conceded defeat and congratulated his rival Danela Arsovska for being elected new mayor of the capital. He thanked his team for working alongside him in the past four years and for “leaving lasting marks in Skopje.” “I’m glad we are leaving Skopje in a position to continue to be developed. We are here for all progressive forces, for Skopje to continue to grow as a developed and modern city. We won’t allow the city to be violated like it was in the past,” Shilegov told a news conference held alongside Zoran Zaev, who stepped down as both prime minister and leader of the ruling party SDSM.
