Skopje, 27 March 2025 (MIA) - SDSM will use all mechanisms at disposal to ensure non-selective justice and accountability for the Kochani tragedy, concluded late Wednesday the opposition's party central board.

The party held a minute of silence to honor the Kochani nightclub fire victims and extended condolences to their families.

The central board concluded that the investigation has been selective and has until now focused only on former officials and officers, while exempting those holding the posts at the time of the tragedy.

SDSM is insisting on a non-selective, independent and thorough investigation, in which everyone is held responsible in line with the laws. SDSM will oppose any type of selectiveness, protection of current officials and individuals close to the authorities. Everyone must be equal before the law, says the party.

SDSM will use all institutional and democratic mechanisms at disposal, including through an inquiry committee in the Parliament, which would ascertain the facts and identify political responsibility for the tragedy.

The central board decided that elections for the party leader, which were postponed amid the Kochani tragedy, will take place on April 6.
