Skopje, 8 May 2024 (MIA) - We had a peaceful, dignified and successful election day. The elections were fair and democratic, as befits a country that is a NATO member state and has launched EU negotiations, SDSM’s spokesperson Bogdanka Kuzeska said at a press conference at the party’s headquarters after polling stations closed in North Macedonia’s double elections on Wednesday.
Kuzeska said certain irregularities were registered, but the party believes they were negligible.
“The citizens were free to express their will and decide the country’s future. The right to vote and decide freely are the most important advantages of a democracy. Thanks to all the citizens who decided to come out and vote in today’s elections. The citizens demonstrated their democratic capacity, while the institutions demonstrated their maturity. We had free, democratic, peaceful and dignified elections. We would like to especially thank the citizens who decided to give their vote to SDSM’s Coalition for European Future and its presidential candidate Stevo Pendarovski. The will of the citizens will decide the path that Macedonia will take in the future. We are awaiting the initial results,” Kuzeska said.
