Screening on Chapters 15 and 21 begins in Brussels

Skopje, 14 September 2023 (MIA) - Bilateral screening on Chapter 15-Energy and Chapter 21-Trans-European Networks within Cluster 4 – Green Agenda and Sustainable Connectivity began in Brussels on Thursday.

Drita Abdiu-Halili, State Secretary at the Secretariat for European Affairs (SEA) and Deputy Chief Negotiator with the EU, opened the meeting, saying development of the energy sector is high on the Government's agenda, a number of laws have been adopted, including the 2040 Energy Development Strategy, in line with EU's energy and climate policies, SEA said in a press release.

"The Government is committed to energy reforms, not only because they represent a key requirement for the country's EU accession but also due to the improvements in the quality of services for energy consumers," said Abdiu-Halili.

According to her, North Macedonia remains focused on developing clean energy and diversification of energy resources.

The delegation consists of representatives of several state institutions - Ministry of Economy, State Commission fore Prevention of Corruption, Electricity Transmission System Operator of the Republic of North Macedonia (MEPSO), National Electricity Market Operator (MEMO), joint stock company for performing energy activity natural gas transmission NOMAGAS Skopje, Power Plants of North Macedonia (ESM), Radiation Safety Directorate and SEA.
