Tirana, 16 October 2023 (MIA) - The only right decision of the EU is to reward North Macedonia for its efforts on the path to the Union, said German Chancellor Olaf Scholz at the Berlin Process Summit in Tirana on Monday, Deutsche Welle reports.

"We want to do everything so that North Macedonia is successful in its efforts and I am very grateful for the PM's activities towards meeting the conditions that have been imposed from outside. It must be said that North Macedonia has made great progress in meeting and accession criteria and has invested a lot of effort. Therefore, this is the only right thing," Chancellor Scholz told a press conference at the summit.

He reiterated the call for a faster EU accession of the Western Balkans.

"It is clear that these countries must join the Union, 20 years after they were given this promise," noted Scholz.
