Rokas: Identity and language not part of negotiating framework, best protected through EU membership

Ohrid, 10 July 2025 (MIA) - The EU Ambassador to the country, Michalis Rokas, speaking Thursday from Ohrid, gave a positive assessment of the European Parliament's Report, emphasizing that it provides strong support for the country's integration processes and supports the reform efforts, especially the reforms in the judiciary, the fight against corruption, and the other challenges the country is facing.

Regarding the disputed parts in the country’s Report concerning identity and language, he pointed out that the European Parliament is an independent institution that makes political decisions in accordance with its internal procedures.

"The most important thing to highlight is that identity and language are not part of the negotiating framework. Identity and language are best protected through full EU membership," he said.
