Ristovska: SCPC continues work in accordance with law
- Newly elected deputy chair of the State Commission for the Prevention of Corruption (SCPC), Cveta Ristovska, said the institution remains committed to its legal obligations, regardless of current developments related to former SCPC chair Tatjana Dimitrovska.
Skopje, 15 August 2025 (MIA) - Newly elected deputy chair of the State Commission for the Prevention of Corruption (SCPC), Cveta Ristovska, said the institution remains committed to its legal obligations, regardless of current developments related to former SCPC chair Tatjana Dimitrovska.
In response to a reporter's question after Friday's SCPC session, Ristovska pointed out that competent authorities are handling the case, and the Commission continues with its work.
"We continue to exercise our powers in accordance with the law. Regarding the situation, the competent authorities are already taking action," she said.
Ristovska was elected at Friday's 21st session of the SCPC, and will take over the post from Biljana Karakashova Shulev on August 21, with a six-month mandate. The deputy chair of the SCPC is elected on the principle of rotation in alphabetical order.
The post of SCPC chairperson remained vacant after Dimitrovska resigned over allegations of corruption. The Public Prosecutor’s Office for Prosecuting Organized Crime and Corruption accused Dimitrovska of disclosing official secrets. She had allegedly tipped off a defendant in the Additive case, Negotino Thermo-Electric Power Plant CEO Nebojsha Stojanovikj, suspected of abusing coal plant additive procurement procedures. Dimitrovska is also suspected of having a fake security clearance certificate.
The Parliament on August 1 decided to issue a public call to fill the vacancy of SCPC chairperson. The call closes today, and so far a dozen of candidates have applied. The procedure will continue after November 3, after the conclusion of the local elections.
