Report on draft-negotiating framework in Parliament, EC President to address lawmakers
Skopje, 14 July 2022 (MIA) – The Parliament will hold Thursday a session focused on the Report over the content of the draft-negotiating framework for the accession negotiations of the Republic of North Macedonia with the European Union, proposed by the French Presidency on 30 June 2022. Prior to the session, European Commission (EC) President Ursula von der Leyen will deliver an address before lawmakers at a session also attended by the diplomatic corps. Ahead of the session, Prime Minister Dimitar Kovachevski told MIA that he expects a fruitful and comprehensive debate. “I expect lawmakers to rise to the occasion and think in a statesmanlike manner, as representatives of the people not political parties,” says PM Kovachevski. He says a discussion will first take place, followed by adoption of the conclusions that will task the Government with acting in line with certain principles that it cannot concede from, towards protecting the positions that the country finds most important during the entire process. “Bearing this in mind, SDSM is making efforts to reach conclusions that would be acceptable to all parties and which open the path to accepting the proposal that ensures the start of negotiations,” says Kovachevski.
