REK Bitola resumes power production
Skopje, 9 November 2021 (MIA) – REK Bitola has resumed it production of electricity after the power plant has been put into function. “At 3 am, the first unit was synchronized with the electricity system of the Republic of North Macedonia,” state-owned electricity producer ESM said in a press release Tuesday. ESM added that works are under way to also put into function the second unit, which was being restored to working order. “It is expected the second unit to be also put into operations by the end of the week,” it said. A fire broke out on November 5 around 10:50 pm in the third unit of the coal power plant in Bitola, which at the time was one of the two units that were operational. No injuries were reported after transformer insulator of the third unit caught fire, which was outside the plant.
