Radev, Macron discuss North Macedonia’s European integration, Schengen
Sofia, 2 December 2021 (MIA) – Bulgarian President Rumen Radev and French counterpart Emmanuel Macron discussed bilateral relations, Bulgaria’s Schengen accession and North Macedonia’s European prospects at their meeting in Strasbourg on Thursday, MIA reports from Sofia.
Radev said Bulgaria has met the technical criteria for Schengen accession since 2011 and awaits verification from its European partners, with Macron voicing principled support to Sofia’s position.
Regarding North Macedonia, Radev said Bulgaria expected concrete results that would guarantee the application of European values in the observance of human rights and elimination of hate speech.
