Tirana, 9 August 2022 (MIA) – Sasho Tasevski, director of the Public Security Bureau, accompanied by a high delegation of North Macedonia, visited the Albanian state police on Tuesday. Tasevski and the delegation met with the general director of the state police, Gladis Nano and his associates, after holding a tete-a-tete meeting first. They discussed the deepening of the cooperation between both countries in the fight against organized crime, corruption, money laundering and terrorism. “We have close cooperation on operational issues and other elements of the joint fight against crime, which will be strengthened after this meeting. In our mission as heads of the police forces of either country, we share the same aspirations and goals, such as an unconditional fight against organized crime and corruption, terrorism and money laundering, all very important signs of a country’s safety,” Nano said. He also added that the amount of different criminal activities in some countries or the presence of the perpetrators in some countries burdens them with the responsibility to continue their cooperation, Nano’s office says. “It’s our responsibility to keep cooperating closely, to guarantee order and safety for our citizens through an exchange of information in real time and to have serious border police service with integrity. I’m convinced that we have the will to do that,” he stated. Director Tasevski expressed his gratitude over the hospitality “from the border all the way to Tirana,” adding that his visit is a clear mark of the excellent relations between “our countries’ police forces and the readiness to continue our bilateral support concerning operative issues”. “This climate of cooperation is a key element to guarantee the public order and safety in either country, motivating us to work harder on issues like the fight against organized and cross-border crime, which are joint priorities. In the future, our cooperation will intensity towards joint operative and investigative actions, and international issues such as terrorism, the fight against organized crime and money laundering. Our work and cooperation will continue and strengthen not only towards fighting crime, but towards stopping it, as well,” Tasevski stressed.
