Skopje, 13 July 2022 (MIA) – Protest under slogan “Ultimatum – No Thank You” against the draft-negotiating framework proposed by the French EU Presidency was held Wednesday evening in Skopje for the tenth day in a row.
Protesters gathered outside the Government building, marched to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, before arriving outside the Parliament building, demanding resignation of the government.
“We will be actively involved in saying No to the French proposal. We young people will be the leaders of these processes,” protesters said.
Members of the opposition VMRO-DPMNE and its leader Hrsitijan Mickovski were also among the protesters.
VMRO-DPMNE leader Hristijan Mickoski Wednesday prior to the start of protest reiterated that VMRO-DPMNE will not back constitutional revision. He also added that even SDSM lawmakers will not vote once they see the protocol that will be signed by Bujar Osmani.
"We said that everything that will happen in the coming days in the Parliament is a simple farce, the essence is in this building here. Those who are in this building here have already agreed on what they call a modified final proposal, and in essence, it is nothing more than a direct attack on the Macedonian identity. These are the people who will be remembered in Macedonian history as people who sold out the Macedonian identity in order to keep their seats for a few more months," said Mickoski in front of the Government, where the protest began.
Protest is to be held on Thursday at 1.30 pm in front of the Parliament prior to scheduled session at which report over the content of the draft-negotiating framework for North Macedonia’s EU accession negotiations proposed by the French Presidency on 30 June 2022 will be debated.
