Skopje, 2 July 2022 (MIA) – A protest against acceptance of the French proposal to lift the Bulgarian veto and open North Macedonia’s EU accession negotiations is taking place in front of the Government building on Saturday evening.
The protest under motto “Ultimatum – No Thank You” has been supported by political parties and civil society organizations, who said the proposal is exceptionally bad for the Macedonian people and the Macedonian national interests.
VMRO-DPMNE leader Hristijan Mickoski told the protest that Macedonia is waking up and all those who want to put an end to Macedonia with a signature should know this will not be forgotten by the Macedonian people, adding “we don’t need Europe if we have to assimilate.”
“I don’t want to be in Europe because I have the right to be Macedonian speaking the Macedonian language and fighting for his Macedonia, his identity, culture, history and heritage,” said Mickoski.
He told the Government to not be interested in (Albanian PM) Edi Rama’s message but the message of the thousands of people gathered in front of the Government.
“We will wait. If Europe is not prepared to welcome us, civilized Macedonians in a civilized and dignified way, we will wait for the people who understand what we want to say – Macedonia before everything else, Macedonian identity before everything else,” said Mickoski.
