Protest against French proposal ends in front of Parliament
Skopje, 14 July 2022 (MIA) – Protest under slogan “Ultimatum –No Thank You” against the French proposal in front of the Parliament building ended on Thursday evening, organizers said, announcing new protest for Friday at 11 am also outside the Parliament building. Later this afternoon, after the end of the 81st session of Parliament focused on the Report over the content of the draft-negotiating framework for the accession negotiations of the Republic of North Macedonia with the European Union, several VMRO-DPMNE members, led by its leader Hristijan Mickoski joined the protesters. After gathering in downtown Skopje at noon, protesters carried banners reading “We want it free, we don’t want protectorates,” “Stop for Bulgarization”, etc. Some expressed their revolt by booing and throwing eggs, stones and hard objects at the Parliament. Police arrested five people after throwing stones and hard objects at the Parliament’s building during Thursday’s protest in Skopje against the French proposal. A smaller group of protesters is still in front of Parliament, where police presence is strengthened.
