Prosecutor's office gives details about traffic accident near Tabanovce in which one person died

Kumanovo, 21 January 2024 (MIA) - The Kumanovo Prosecutor's Office has investigated a traffic accident that took place late Saturday near the Tabanovce border crossing, in which a 49-year-old woman from Kumanovo has died.

The Kumanovo police reported late Saturday that one person died and three were injured in a traffic accident on the Kumanovo-Tabanovce highway.

Earlier on Sunday, the police said a 49-year-old woman from Kumanovo has died in the traffic accident that involved three vehicles, one of which had Serbian licence plates.

"The accident involved a "Volkswagen Polo" passenger vehicle with Kumanovo licence plates and driver's initials B.T. (24) from Kumanovo, a "Volkswagen Golf" passenger vehicle with Skopje licence plates and driver's initials V.P. (45) from Kumanovo, and a passenger vehicle "Opel Insignia" with Serbian licence plates and driver's initials Dj.N. (59) from the Republic of Serbia. In the accident, Lj.T. (49) from Kumanovo, who was a passenger in the "Polo" vehicle, died after sustaining injuries," said the police.

According to initial findings of the Prosecutor's Office, the accident occurred as a result of a traffic collision between the vehicles with Macedonian licence plates, as one of the vehicles had entered the highway driving on the wrong side.

"After the initial collision, the woman who was a passenger in the vehicle with Kumanovo licence plates had exited the vehicle, and at that moment an Opel Insignia vehicle with Serbian licence plates had run into her. The woman has died after sustaining heavy injuries," the Prosecutor's Office said.

The prosecutor's office has issued an order for autopsy of the deceased and examination of blood and urine samples from the others involved in the accident, who are currently hospitalized with minor injuries. Material evidence have been collected which will be the subject of an expert examination in order to precisely determine the causes of the traffic accident.

Several Serbian media outlets reported that Serbian musician Djordje David had been in the accident.
