Prosecutors find EUR 350,000 built into wall of Appellate Court justice's parental home

Skopje, 19 January 2026 (MIA) — As part of an extensive investigation of high-level corruption, backed by National Security Agency intelligence reports, prosecutors have found EUR 350,000 stashed in the parental home of an Appellate Court justice.

According to the Public Prosecutor's Office in a press release, prosecutors searched the premises after a probe into a lawyer suspected of receiving money or favors was expanded to include the Appellate Court justice.

The justice is suspected of acquisition of assets through illegal means — through corruption and influence peddling — and the subsequent hiding of these assets.

"On an order the public prosecutor requested and obtained from the competent court, a detailed search was carried out today at a location in Negotino, in the home of the parents of the now suspected judge, where EUR 350,000 was found hidden inside a wall," the PPO release said Saturday evening, adding that the investigation was ongoing. mr/
