Presidential candidate Gordana Siljanovska Davkova's statement after voting

Presidential candidate Gordana Siljanovska Davkova's statement after voting

Skopje, 8 May 2024 (MIA) - VMRO-DPMNE-backed presidential candidate Gordana Siljanovska Davkova cast her vote in Wednesday's double elections.

"I hope the citizens will realize that the right to vote, one of the most important political rights, belongs to them. They will exercise it and choose a candidate by their own volition," said Siljanovska Davkova.

She said she expects Bulgaria, since it is in the European Union, to follow the model of Sweden, Denmark and Finland, which, she pointed out, have been the main supporters of Latvia and Estonia.

"So, the one who is ahead should show us the path, take steps together with us on the path. I think that there will be no reason then for us not to respect each other, not to cooperate in all areas. I am, of course, set to cooperate with Bulgarian colleagues, I have no other alternative," Siljanovska Davkova said among other.

In response to a reporter's question on whether she will meet with the Bulgarian President, she said she can't give an answer to that for now.

"I can't say for now, I don't know. However, one of my first statements was that I will neither travel to Brussels nor to anywhere in the world, unless I am invited, that I would like to have the first meetings with my neighbors, because we have to build a regional policy. Only in this way will we be stronger in the EU. Who else I can expect understanding and help from if not the neighbors," said Siljanovska Davkova.
