President Siljanovska-Davkova receives credentials of new Ambassador of the Republic of Korea

Skopje, 4 June 2025 (MIA) - President Gordana Siljanovska-Davkova received Wednesday the credentials of the new Ambassador of the Republic of Korea based in Sofia, Kim Dong-bae.
“Welcoming Ambassador Kim, the President voiced her pleasure over the friendly relations and constructive cooperation between the two countries since the establishment of diplomatic relations in 2019. She assessed that there is willingness and commitment to harnessing the potential and intensifying cooperation in all areas of mutual interest,” the President’s Office said in a press release.
The President highlighted the importance of developing cooperation, emphasizing that the Korean economy offers significant opportunities for partnership in various fields, particularly in IT, digitization, and renewable sources of energy. “On the other hand, our country, with its strategic location in the heart of the Balkans, provides favorable conditions for Korean investors and companies,” the President’s Office said.
The President and the Ambassador stressed the need to work together on opening resident embassies in Skopje and Seoul.
“Siljanovska-Davkova, in the spirit of the principle of reciprocity, requested the abolition of visa requirements for Macedonian citizens, considering that visas are not required for citizens of the Republic of Korea,” the press release said.
Ambassador Kim assessed that since the establishment of diplomatic ties six years ago, the two countries have become successful partners and expressed readiness for further deepening and expansion of cooperation. He highlighted the development of economic cooperation as a priority in his work.
At the meeting, President Siljanovska-Davkova extended congratulations on the election of Lee Jae-myung as the new President of the Republic of Korea in Tuesday's presidential elections.
She also wished Ambassador Kim success in carrying out his diplomatic mission.
