President Siljanovska-Davkova meets IMF officials

Skopje, 25 February 2025 (MIA) - President Gordana Siljanovska Davkova met Tuesday with International Monetary Fund (IMF) Mission Chief Annette Kyobe and Regional Resident Representative Sebastian Sosa, discussing the economic situation and implementation of reforms.

Siljanovska Davkova and the IMF officials tackled the measures that must be undertaken in order to maintain economic and financial stability in time of fluctuations of the global economy, as well as cooperation with international financial institutions, the President's Office said in a press release.

The President thanked the IMF for its support in mitigating global shocks, while the Fund's officials shared their forecasts and views on implemented measures and policies.

In the context of the need to prioritize expenses towards reducing inflationary trends, interlocutors highlighted the importance of investing in infrastructure and digitization, education, health and fight against corruption, adding that the Macedonian reform agenda opens the way for the country's development.

Siljanovska Davkova noted that bilateralization of the country's Euro-integration process slows down reforms and called for the need to stop this trend in the enlargement process.

She reaffirmed the position that the best investments are the ones in education, science, infrastructure and culture, leading to reduced emigration of educated people and stimulation of the youth to show their potential at home, reads the press release.
