Skopje, 5 June 2025 (MIA) - President Gordana Siljanovska-Davkova held a farewell meeting Thursday with USAID Country Representative Jeri Dible, which was also attended by United States Ambassador Angela Aggeler.
According to a press release by the President’s Office, Siljanovska-Davkova thanked Dible for her engagement and contribution, while noting that the various U.S. programs and projects for cooperation have left a visible mark in the country. “Part of our development in various sectors is due to USAID funds, which is why the country expects the ongoing projects to be completed,” she said.
The President reaffirmed her readiness to further expand the bilateral relations and enhance the friendship between the two countries, highlighting the untapped potential for cooperation in all areas, especially the economy.
Discussing the Macedonian Euro-integration process, Siljanovska-Davkova thanked for the continuous support provided by the United States.
At the meeting, Dible pointed out that over the past 30 years, USAID has invested US$900 million in the country through numerous projects. Considering the recent cuts in aid funding, she underscored that, together with the U.S. Embassy and other donors, they will seek ways to ensure the completion of ongoing projects and activities to preserve the benefits achieved so far.
Ambassador Aggeler expressed disappointment over the closure of the USAID office in the country, stating that the Embassy, along with the Government and other partners, will continue advocating for the completion of ongoing programs.
