President Siljanovska Davkova signs decrees recalling nine ambassadors

Skopje, 10 March 2025 (MIA) - President Gordana Siljanovska Davkova has signed decrees recalling eight ambassadors, as they had failed to meet the legal obligation of appearing before the Parliament's working body prior to their appointments.

Under the decision, North Macedonia's Ambassador Jakup Rexhepi has been recalled from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Ambassador Djenk Sejfula has been recalled from Sweden, Ambassador Metodija Belevski has been recalled from Belgium, as well as from Luxembourg as non-resident ambassador, Ambassador Agneza Rusi Popovska has been recalled from Bulgaria, Ambassador Emil Krsteski has been recalled from the Czech Republic, Ambassador Pajo Avirovic has been recalled from the Permanent Mission of International Organizations in Vienna, Ambassador Zekir Ramchilovikj has been recalled from Montenegro, and Ambassador Katerina Stavreska has been recalled from the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.

According to President Siljanovska Davkova's Office, ambassadors are legally required to present their insights on relations with the host country or international organization to the Parliamentary Committee on Foreign Policy prior to their appointment. However, eight of the nine recalled ambassadors failed to do so. One ambassador is being recalled through standard procedure due to end of term.

President Siljanovska Davkova also signed a decree recalling Ambassador and Permanent Representative of North Macedonia at the Council of Europe, Svetlana Geleva, due to term completion.

According to the decrees, the term of the ambassadors ends on April 30, 2025.
