President Siljanovska Davkova meets Albanian counterpart Bajram Begaj

Skopje, 8 October 2024 (MIA) - President Gordana Slijanovska Davkova met Tuesday with Albanian President Bajram Begaj in Montenegro’s Tivat as they attend a meeting of the Brdo-Brijuni process leaders.

Interlocutors expressed satisfaction with the ongoing political dialogue between the two countries, as well as the bilateral involvement in various regional and multilateral initiatives, "which helps achieve the common goal - strengthening regional ties, building a prosperous future for citizens and promoting the vision of an interconnected region," Siljanovska Davkova's Office said in a press release. 

"President Siljanovska Davkova congratulated the Albanian President on the successful opening of Cluster 1 in the negotiations for Albania's accession to the EU, noting that it is a significant achievement not only for Albania, but also for the entire region and that the progress achieved by each candidate country from the Western Balkans has a positive impact on the common regional dynamics," reads the press release. 

In that context, President Siljanovska Davkova stressed that "we remain strongly committed to our own path to the EU and continue to implement the necessary reforms, while actively working with our EU partners to ensure a sustainable and predictable arrangement in order to move the process forward".

"Interlocutors also highlighted the excellent cooperation within NATO, where the two countries regularly coordinate and act together on matters of common interest, pointing out that the partnership in NATO is a key aspect of common security," notes the press release, adding that Siljanovska Davkova and Begaj also discussed minority rights in the two countries.
