President Siljanovska Davkova at UN Ocean Conference in Nice

Skopje, 8 June 2025 (MIA) - Starting Sunday, President Gordana Siljanovska Davkova is paying a visit to Nice, France, where she is set to take part at the third United Nations Ocean Conference (UNOC3).
During the conference, Siljanovska Davkova will attend a reception hosted by French President Emmanuel Macron, and take part at the ceremony of opening the Decade of Action for Cryospheric Sciences, attended by UNESCO Director-General Audrey Azoulay, as well as the presentation of recommendations from UNOC3 special events before heads of state and government, the President's Office said in a press release.
Siljanovska Davkova will address the conference in support to Sustainable Development Goal 14: Conserve and sustainably use the oceans, seas and marine resources for sustainable development.
In addition, SIlljanovska Davkova will sign the Agreement under the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea on the Conservation and Sustainable Use of Marine Biological Diversity of Areas beyond National Jurisdiction (BBNJ Agreement), adopted in 2023.
The overarching theme of the Conference is “Accelerating action and mobilizing all actors to conserve and sustainably use the ocean”. The Conference aims to support further and urgent action to conserve and sustainably use the oceans, seas and marine resources for sustainable development and identify further ways and means to support the implementation of SDG 14. It will build on existing instruments to form successful partnerships towards the swift conclusion and effective implementation of ongoing processes that contribute to the conservation and sustainable use of the ocean.
