President Pendarovski says he doesn’t intend to run for reelection in 2024

Skopje, 6 December 2023 (MIA) – President Stevo Pendarovski told media on Wednesday he does not intend to run for reelection at the elections scheduled for May 8, 2024, without giving any reason for his decision.
Pendarovski is the fifth President of North Macedonia. He assumed the post on May 12, 2019. He first ran for President in 2014, as the candidate of SDSM’s coalition, but lost to the then incumbent President, Gjorge Ivanov. In 2019, he was elected President as the joint candidate of SDSM, DUI, and dozens of other political parties, winning against VMRO-DPMNE’s candidate, university professor Gordana Siljanovska-Davkova.
