President Pendarovski receives letters of credence of new Hungarian Ambassador
Skopje, 15 September 2022 (MIA) - President Stevo Pendarovski on Thursday received the letters of credence of the newly-appointed Ambassador of Hungary to North Macedonia, András Klein. At the ceremony, President Pendarovski expressed his pleasure with the long-term successful cooperation in the spirit of strong friendship and traditional partnership, adding that the two countries are connected with their mutual vision of peace, stability and prosperity in Europe and the Western Balkans. President Pendarovski expressed his gratitude for the overall continued support shown by Hungary to North Macedonia towards fulfilling its European strategic goals, his office said. "Now that North Macedonia is actively in the accession process for Union membership, I am confident that Hungarian support will intensify," Pendarovski said. He pointed out the Hungarian contribution in relation to the start of the migrant crisis along the so-called Western Balkans route in terms of securing and protecting the Macedonian southern border, thanking also Hungary for deploying almost 1,800 Hungarian police officers to take part so as to together tackle the challenges of illegal migration. Ambassador Klein said that the Hungarian Government remains a strong supporter of the Western Balkans' European integration, congratulating North Macedonia on the start of its EU accession negotiations, adding that the bilateral relations are abundant with examples of cooperation.
