President Pendarovski receives credentials of new Lithuanian Ambassador Borisovas

Skopje, 23 January 2024 (MIA) - President Stevo Pendarovski received Tuesday the credentials of the newly appointed Lithuanian Ambassador to North Macedonia, Eduardas Borisovas, based in Zagreb.

At the handover ceremony of the credentials, President Pendarovski expressed satisfaction with the highly developed bilateral ties between the two countries characterized by intense political dialogue and partnership, and his hopes for developing a greater trade and economic cooperation, the President's Office said in a press release.

"The newly opened Embassy office in Skopje in November 2023 serves to further strengthen mutual cooperation and intensify political, economic, security, cultural and social exchange between both countries. In this light, we hope that the newly opened office will one day grow into an embassy, making it the first Baltic country with an embassy in Skopje," Pendarovski said.

The President added that Lithuania is an important partner of North Macedonia and a NATO ally, and expressed gratitude for Lithuania's continuous unreserved and vocal support for our European integration process.

Ambassador Borisovas expressed his assurance that a safe Europe requires a strong and secure architecture in which both large and small countries will feel protected by international law, under NATO's security umbrella.

"United under the common goal of achieving a safe, united and prosperous Europe, Lithuania's position is unwavering and clear: North Macedonia must soon become EU member. We are prepared to support your efforts and we will continue to share our expertise on EU integrations," Borisovas stressed. ssh/ik/
