Skopje, 12 January 2024 (MIA) - President Stevo Pendarovski met Friday with the Prime Minister of Ireland, Leo Varadkar, who is on an official visit to the country.

At the meeting, according to President Pendarovski's office, the thirtieth anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries was acknowledged, underscoring the positive level of political dialogue.

Both interlocutors affirmed the friendly relations between North Macedonia and Ireland, mutual commitment to advancing political dialogue, as well as pledges for enhanced and comprehensive bilateral cooperation.

In the context of our country's European perspective, President Pendarovski pointed out that North Macedonia highly values Ireland's continual, open, and vocal support for our EU integration process and assistance in fulfilling the European agenda, along with their principled stance on EU enlargement.

They also discussed current regional developments and the importance of the European perspective for countries in the region as a strategic and security matter.
