Skopje, 19 September 2023 (MIA) – President Stevo Pendarovski met Tuesday with the President of Cyprus Nikos Christodoulides on the sidelines of the 78th session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in New York.

They discussed relations between the two countries, and stated that after the establishment of diplomatic relations in 2019, opportunities for developing cooperation in areas of mutual interest are opening up, President’s Office said in a press release.

“Pendarovski thanked for the continued support from Cyprus to our EU integration path and expressed his expectation that it will continue. The interlocutors also agreed to strengthen cooperation in multilateral forums, especially mutual support for candidacies. The talks were also focused on the economic relations between the two countries, and they committed to the promotion of economic cooperation, increasing the volume of trade in the areas of agriculture and food industry, tourism, banking and finance. In this regard, the presidents expressed interest in arranging a business forum between the two countries,” reads the press release.
