President Pendarovski meets Greek FM Dendias
Skopje, 31 August 2021 (MIA) – North Macedonia’s President Stevo Pendarovski met Tuesday with Greece’s Foreign Minister Nikos Dendias, discussing bilateral relations, the situation in the region, as well as current developments in Afghanistan. “Interlocutors expressed satisfaction with the dynamics of the political dialogue between the two countries in the past period. In this context, President Pendarovski announced that preparations are underway for his first official visit to Greece, scheduled for next month. President Pendarovski expressed expectation that it will contribute to an even more dynamic dialogue and to further enhance the cooperation between the Republic of North Macedonia and the Republic of Greece,” the President’s office said in a press release. Pendarovski expressed satisfaction with the level of economic cooperation between the two countries, which notes significant progress, pointing out that the signing of the Prespa Agreement not only normalized political relations, but positively affects the overall economic relations between the two countries. In terms of the Prespa Agreement, President Pendarovski stressed that its further implementation is necessary, as well as engagement from both sides, to ensure fast and smooth continuation of the work of the bodies set up with the agreement. In addition, Pendarovski and Dendias exchanged views on the process of North Macedonia’s European integration. Extending gratitude for Greece’s support, Pendarovski pointed out that the adoption of the negotiating framework remains a priority. President Pendarovski also extended gratitude for the Greek donation of 20,000 COVID-19 vaccines, as well as the assistance provided in dealing with the wildfires near Gevgelija earlier this month.
