PPO and anti-corruption commission in coordination towards efficient monitoring of election process

Skopje, 21 March 2024 (MIA) - Ahead of the forthcoming presidential and parliamentary elections in North Macedonia, representatives of the Public Prosecutor's Office (PPO) and the State Commission for the Prevention of Corruption held a working meeting aimed at boosting coordination between the two institutions towards efficient monitoring of the election process.
The meeting, led by public prosecutor Xhelal Bajrami and anti-corruption commission president Tatjana Dimitrovska, focused on the spadework and competencies of each institution towards ensuring peaceful and fair election process. Talks also tackled mechanisms to sanction any possible irregularities, the Prosecutor's Office said in a press release.
Bajrami stressed the importance of the committee tasked with monitoring election-related irregularities, explaining its composition and process of work. He also presented the process of dealing with the cases and the system for monitoring reports via izbori@jorm.mk.
Dimitrovska shared the anti-corruption commission's activities in the pre-election period, including efforts to track official vehicle usage.
In order to ensure transparency and accountability, the Public Prosecutor's Office and the anti-corruption commission will maintain direct communication and coordinate in handling all reports of election irregularities.
