Skopje, 8 October 2025 (MIA) — Kumanovo police have taken into custody the wife of the doctor who was shot yesterday in Kumanovo, the Ministry of Interior said in a press release.

According to a police report, A.A. (43) from Tetovo was detained on suspicion of being involved in the attempted murder of her husband Z. Sh. (43) from the Lipkovo village of Slupchane.

Another six persons were interviewed by the police in connection with the incident. Police also searched the home of B.S. (50) from Kumanovo with a judicial warrant, the release said.

Charges will be filed against A.A. as well as against Gostivar resident L.F. (36), who is suspected of attempted murder and is still on the run.

Pulmonologist Z.Sh. was injured in a drive-by shooting that took place Tuesday behind the building of the Municipality of Kumanovo. 

Prosecutors said he was the incumbent president of the Lipkovo municipal council and a candidate for council member from the DUI-led National Alliance for Integration at the upcoming local elections. They said there were no immediately apparent political motives behind the incident, however. mr/
