Skopje, 29 December 2024 (MIA) - The police conducted Sunday a dozen of searches at multiple locations in Skopje, Negotino, Dojran and Bitola, as part of an operation against crimes related to smuggling of luxury cars from abroad.

The Ministry of Interior said actions are undertaken to secure evidence for the car smuggling.

Various documents, 25g of cocaine, laptops, phones and other items related to the crime have been retrieved during the searches, the MoI said in a press release.

Minister of Interior Panche Toshkovski has confirmed the ongoing operation against a crime ring linked to smuggling of luxury cars, falsification of documents and abuse of office.

"Searches were carried out at multiple locations in the morning. We are continuing our fight against all types of crime because Macedonian citizens deserve to live in a stable and safe country," said Minister Toshkovski.

Earlier, the Public Prosecutor's Office said the Skopje Prosecutor's Office is coordinating the operation after it received search warrants from a pre-trial judge.

Domestic officials and a foreign national are among the suspects.
