Police arrest four suspects in Chair gunshot incident

Skopje, 15 October 2024 (MIA) — The police have detained four people suspected of being involved in the Chair incident in which a 35-year-old man sustained a gunshot wound to the leg on Monday evening.

Skopje Police Department's Violent Crime Unit officers, in coordination with Safe City Skopje and the Skopje Public Prosecutor's Office, arrested L.A. (32) and I.T. (30) and held them for questioning as well as A.R. (29) and M.I. (32), two Idrizovo prison inmates who had been on temporary release, according to the Ministry of Interior in a press release.

Police forensics experts linked evidence collected from the scene of the crime, including traces of gunpowder residue, with the suspects. They also reviewed footage provided by the Safe City traffic surveillance camera system and located a vehicle driven by one of the suspects, which has been seized for forensic examination, the release said.

On Monday evening, E.A. (35) was taken to a Skopje hospital with a gunshot wound to his leg. He had been walking down Hristijan Todorovski Karposh Street near Chair when a person approached him and shot him in the leg, most likely because of unpaid debt, his brother said. mr/
