PM says 'be careful what you wish' on opposition's demand for early elections

Skopje, 26 October 2025 (MIA) - Prime Minister and VMRO-DPMNE leader Hristijan Mickoski said Sunday he does not prefer snap elections, while telling opposition politicians demanding the vote to behave responsibly and "be careful what you wish for".

PM Mickoski said the opposition has demanded early elections for a year-and-a-half and yet they have been defeated at the local elections.

"This is what the opposition is about, to demand for elections. They have been defeated at the local elections, the same will go for snap elections, if they happen. I have not said that I am against early elections, but politicians in Macedonia should behave responsibly and be careful what they wish for, so as not to complain afterwards," Mickoski told reporters.

On the possibility of a Government reshuffle after the local elections, Mickoski said the VMRO-DPMNE congress would take place in Kavadarci on December 6 and "should be followed closely".
