Zagreb, 29 August 2024 (MIA) – Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski is paying Thursday his first official visit to Croatia at the invitation of his Croatian counterpart, Andrej Plenkovic, MIA reports from Zagreb.

In addition to the Croatian Prime Minister, Mickoski in Zagreb is also set to meet with Croatian President Zoran Milanovic and Zeljko Reiner, Deputy Speaker of Parliament (the Sabor).

Talks will focus on the country’s EU integration process, Croatia’s support as well as the challenges on the path to full-fledged membership of the Western Balkan countries in the bloc. The interlocutors are also expected to discuss ways to further boost cooperation in all fields, primarily business cooperation and trade. 

As part of the visit, two agreements will be signed in the field of healthcare and education, designed to improve mutual cooperation through exchange of experiences and projects of joint interest. 

The education cooperation agreement, covering the period until 2028, will be signed by Minister of Education and Science Vesna Janevska and her Croatian counterpart, Radovan Fuks. Health Minister Arben Taravari and Croatian Health Minister Vili Beros will sign a healthcare cooperation plan for the period until 2026.

The government delegation also includes Foreign Minister Timcho Mucunski, who yesterday took part in a separate session of the annual conference of Ambassadors, general consuls and military officials of Croatia abroad. 

In Croatia, PM Mickoski is also scheduled to visit St. Zlata Meglenska church to meet with representatives of the Macedonian diaspora.
