Skopje, 25 November 2024 (MIA) - Electric buses for public transport will be purchased through a tender that is set to be released by the end of the year, said Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski on Monday.

PM Mickoski said the procurement of the e-buses would lead to reduced air pollution and improve the country's image.

"About 100-120 buses will be procured, most of which for Skopje but also for other municipalities across the country that have organized public transport. Let's say, if we procure 120, they would be distributed at the ratio of 70-50 or 80-40, along with about 50 chargers," Mickoski told reporters.

According to him, the technical documents are being drafted, the market is scanned, whereas the repayment period would be four years.

"There will be a tender, we are defining the criteria and scanning the market. Repayment will begin somewhere in the first half of 2028, including eight half-year installments or four years. I expect the tender to be released by the end of the year," said Mickoski.
