PM Kovachevski to address UN Security Council

Skopje, 3 May 2023 (MIA) - As part of a working visit to the United States, Prime Minister Dimitar Kovachevski is set to address the UN Security Council's open session in New York on Wednesday.
While in New York, within the programme observing the 30th anniversary of North Macedonia's UN membership, Kovachevski will meet UNICEF and UNDP senior officials and deliver an address at the reception hosted by the UN. In addition, he will take part in a panel discussion dedicated to preventive diplomacy, mediation and friendship policy.
Moreover, the PM will attend an event observing the Macedonian Language Day.
In Washington, Kovachevski is scheduled to meet with Secretary of State Antony Blinken, U.S. Deputy Assistant Secretary and Special Representative to the Western Balkans Gabriel Escobar, Deputy National Security Advisor Jonathan Finer, State Department Counselor Derek Chollet, as well as U.S. senators and congressmen. In addition, the PM will meet the Atlantic Council's board members.
Kovachevski will also visit the Johns Hopkins University and meet with School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS) Dean James Steinberg, followed by a lecture on the challenges and opportunities for North Macedonia and the Western Balkans on their European path, considering the need for swift development of the region.
The PM's agenda also includes a meeting with representatives of the Macedonian diaspora in the United States. The delegation led by PM Kovachevski also includes Deputy PM for good governance policies Slavica Grkovska and Foreign Minister Bujar Osmani.
