PM: Draft of law reforming security structures likely by early 2025

Skopje, 28 October 2024 (MIA) – Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski has said it is likely that a working version of a legislation on reforming security structures by merging the National Security Agency and the Intelligence Agency will be drafted by early next year.

The reform is in line with practices in NATO member countries, Mickoski told reporters Monday.

“This serious reform is necessary because it is an established practice in the NATO members. The experiences from some of these countries, for example the United States and Croatia, could be beneficial in the process of reforming the security sector,” he stated.

According to him, the announced reform “has upset secret service installations in the opposition parties that have been in top posts for years and decades.”

“They are upset because all scandals and misuse done during their terms will come to light slowly but surely,” the PM said speaking to reporters after overseeing construction works on Bukojchani – Gostivar highway.
