PM concludes visit to UAE: Gov’t presented investment opportunities, efforts to place country on map of global investors

Skopje, 17 April 2025 (MIA) - In a statement at the end of his official visit to the United Arab Emirates, Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski assessed the visit as exceptionally successful. Mickoski said the government delegation presented opportunities for investments in the country and worked to place the country on the map of global investors.

“Everything we discussed [at the meetings in the UAE] is truly something that will represent a significant step forward for the Macedonian economy. We spoke about projects in transport, above all corridors VIII, X and X-d,” Mickoski said in a video statement.

The PM said discussions were also held on projects related to tourism, construction, agriculture and energy.

“Of course we discussed our Macedonian, Balkan, and I would say global pearl – Ohrid, then Popova Shapka as an exceptional investment that is expected to bring great economic benefits to the Macedonian citizens in the years to come, this is a place that requires a significant investment due to its location and all the geographical beauty offered by the ski resort,” Mickoski said.

In terms of construction, Mickoski said they discussed potential locations for “landmark” buildings that would be recognizable for the region.

In energy, Mickoski said the hydropower plants Chebren and Galishte remain a priority.

“The energy potential wasn’t only limited to investments in the Chebren and Galishte hydropower plants, but also in new solar panels, new wind turbines, wind parks and so on,” Mickoski said.

Mickoski said the country is once again establishing close cooperation with the United Arab Emirates.

“If I had to grade our visit, I would give it a top mark, both from an economic and political aspect, since after a long pause in our relations with the United Arab Emirates, we are once again establishing a close, immediate cooperation,” Mickoski said in a statement after his visit.
