Planned shutdown of REK Bitola Block 1
Skopje, 5 September 2022 (MIA) – From Monday afternoon and through to Wednesday, REK Bitola’s Block 1 will be disconnected from North Macedonia’s electric power system. The short-term interruption in operations is aimed at increasing the reliability and stability of the plant, the power producing company ESM said. According to ESM, because of the energy crisis in the country and in Europe, REK Bitola will not do regular overhauls of the blocks in 2022, but will instead use opportunities for technical-technological operations for the rehabilitation and maintenance of the plants. In the meantime, Block 2 of REK Bitola will continue to work. “ESM is fulfilling the electricity needs of households and small consumers exclusively with domestic production. Electricity is not being imported nor are there any plans to import it from abroad in the upcoming days,” said ESM in a press release. ad/ba/
