PHI issues recommendations amid high temperatures

Skopje, 8 June 2025 (MIA) - The Public Health Institute (PHI) has issued recommendations amid high temperatures in the country, advising people to stay inside between 11 am and 5 pm, wear light clothes, hats and sunglasses, and stay in air-conditioned facilities when possible.

The recommendations refer to all citizens, and primarily the most vulnerable groups - those aged over 60, children, pregnant women, chronically ill and overweight persons, people with mental disorders and persons receiving specific therapy.

The PHI adds that if people have to go outside, they should rest frequently in the shade and avoid direct exposure to the sun, stay hydrated, never leave people or animals in parked vehicles, take showers with lukewarm water or put cold packs on the body.

If a person shows signs of a heatstroke - warm or dry skin, stomach pain or loss of consciousness - immediately call an ambulance at hotlines 194 or 112.
