Petrovska and Osmani welcome Turkey's decision to enable Sweden's NATO membership

Skopje, 11 July 2023 (MIA) - Defense Minister Slavjanka Petrovska has welcomed Turkey's decision to enable Sweden's membership in NATO.

"NATO unity has won once again. An agreement has been reached and Sweden will be part of the Alliance. The NATO family is enlarging to 32 members. More in numbers, more power, more united," Minister Petrovska wrote in a Facebook post.

Foreign Minister Osmani also wrote on Facebook that the excellent news coming from Vilnius represents the most important political-security event after Finland's membership.

"A political agreement has been reached during the NATO Summit, by which our ally Sweden joins the transatlantic family as the 32nd NATO member. This not only significantly strengthens the Alliance's power but will also have a strong effect on the long-term security and stability of Europe," says Osmani.

Ministers Petrovska and Osmani are accompanying Prime Minister Dimitar Kovachevski at the NATO Summit in Vilnius on July 11-12.
