Skopje, 13 September 2024 (MIA) - Seventy-one municipalities have applied with 330 projects at the public call for financing of infrastructure projects worth EUR 100 million, secured through the Budget revision and intended for all local self-government units.
Minister of Local Self-Government Zlatko Perinski said Friday they are waiting on applications sent by mail so that the public call is closed.
"Let me express my enormous satisfaction from the shown interest. The fact that almost all municipalities have applied only confirms the Government's policy and the needs of local self-governments for intervention from the central budget, so that we upgrade the living conditions across the country," Minister Perinski told reporters.
Upon the call's closure, municipalities will have a 10-day deadline to submit draft-projects and accompanying documents, such as building permits, to the competent ministries, which will then do the proper evaluation.
"The aim is to support local self-governments in areas they are unable to intervene due to lack of funds, such as improvements in the water supply and sewage systems, road infrastructure, education etc," said Perinski.
