Shtip, 21 August 2024 (MIA) — Retirees from Shtip, Sveti Nikole, and Kochani who had protested demanding a linear increase of their pensions by Mden 5,000 have called for a rally in Skopje on Sept. 3 to demand that Association of Pensioners president Stanka Trajkovska resign, MIA's Shtip correspondent reports.
"On Sept. 3 in Skopje, join us en masse to tell Mrs. Stanka Trajkovska that her Association of Pensioners adventure is over and that we don't need a woman who does not support the 200,000 pensioners who wanted linear increases," said protest organizer Trajche Stanojkov, a pensioner from Sveti Nikole.
"She should resign from her post, together with everyone in the management," Stanojkov said.
Trajche Mitev, a pensioner from Shtip, said they were also demanding a financial audit of the Association of Pensioners.
"We have submitted our requests to the State Audit Office, the Public Revenue Office, the Ministry of Interior, and the Financial Police to investigate and see if there has been any financial fraud," Mitev said.
The pensioners are also demanding law amendments and new regulations regarding pension increases but also changes to the procedure for electing the Association of Pensioners' president and the length of their term in office. mr/
