Skopje, 22 September 2023 (MIA) - President Stevo Pendarovski met on Friday with Yuri Kim, Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Europe and Eurasian Affairs and James O'Brien, Head of the Office of Sanctions Coordination at the US State Department, on the sidelines of the 78th session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in New York.

At the meeting, they discussed the current situation related to the country’s European integration, the reform progress, as well as the political situation in the country and in the region. The interlocutors agreed that it is necessary to maintain the focus on reforms, as well as on the readiness for negotiations with the European Union, the President’s Office said in a press release.

“The excellent bilateral ties between the United States of America and the Republic of North Macedonia were affirmed at the meeting, with President Pendarovski thanking the American support for North Macedonia's membership in the EU as a strategic determination of the Macedonian society,” reads the press release.
