Skopje, 15 February 2024 (MIA) - President Stevo Pendarovski said Thursday the European Union has never reacted on the abuse of the "EU flag" procedure prior to the adoption of any law, until now, in the case of the amendments to the Law on Games of Chance.

President Pendarovski says in a press release that the communication from the European Union, which clearly notes that the procedure had not been followed, was also sent to the Government and the Parliament.

"Deputy PM Artan Grubi and all Government members should be aware of this letter," says Pendarovski.

Regarding the Criminal Code amendments, the President says a clear EU directive on asset recovery and confiscation is in place.

"The law amendments are aligned with the EU Directive, which puts focus on confiscation of assets from perpetrators of these crimes, in addition to the prison sentence," underlines Pendarovski.
