Pendarovski and Duda address Polish-Macedonian economic forum

Pendarovski and Duda address Polish-Macedonian economic forum
Skopje, 24 October 2022 (MIA) – There is growing economic cooperation between North Macedonia and the Republic of Poland, but trade exchange in the past years doesn’t correspond to the economic potential of the two countries, concluded on Monday the Presidents of North Macedonia and Poland, Stevo Pendarovski and Andrzej Duda, while addressing a Polish-Macedonian economic forum, organized by the Polish Investment and Trade Agency and the office of the Polish President.   Expressing satisfaction that there’s always room for economic cooperation to be in the focus of intensive contacts with President Duda, Pendarovski said this segment takes on even greater importance given all the difficulties faced by the entire European continent due to the Russian aggression against Ukraine.   He added that there is almost no country that is not economically affected by the military conflict in Ukraine and that could handle all the challenges by itself.   “Amid such conditions, short-term solutions, which we are forced to take, only partially mitigate the negative effects of non-economic factors. Therefore, further systemic and structural strengthening of the economic cooperation between our countries comes forward as first priority, because not only you as businessmen benefit from it, but also our citizens who directly feel the effects of such cooperation,” Pendarovski pointed out.   Noting that there is already a solid network of contacts between businesses and the respective institutions in North Macedonia and Poland, President Pendarovski said the key step taken in European integration, opening the EU accession negotiations, will positively affect the overall business environment and further economic connection with the friendly member states of the Union.   Pendarovski expressed expectation that the business communities of the two countries will succeed, even amid such crisis times and difficult situations, in finding opportunity for prosperity.   President Stevo Pendarovski is paying on Monday and Tuesday an official visit to Poland. Earlier on Monday, Polish President Duda welcomed President Pendarovski with the highest state and military honors in Warsaw, after which the two held a tête-à-tête meeting, and the Macedonian and Polish delegations held a plenary meeting. Later on Monday, Pendarovski held a meeting with Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki.
