Pehchevo, 30 July 2024 (MIA) - In a social media post on Tuesday, Pehchevo Mayor Aleksandar Kitanski urged the population to join the efforts to combat the wildfire that is burning above the town of Pehchevo. The fire broke out on Tuesday above the village of Negrevo and is moving towards the town, due to the wind. 

According to Kitanski, those engaged in the battle against the blaze currently have air support, however the Mayor noted that more people and resources are necessary to suppress the wildfire which is currently out of control.

Several teams from Pehchevo’s voluntary firefighting association are on the ground, as well as firefighters from Berovo, members of the local population and staff from public communal enterprise and the National Forests public enterprise.
